The Ranpen Footbridge

The Ranpen Footbridge is one of the oldest surviving structures in Wynvelwick. It was designed by the engineer Bram Cortamtam and completed in 1890. The structure stands 22 metres tall.

Bram Cortamtam drew up the plans after a public subscription raised funds for the project. Construction took three seasons, using stone quarried a few miles inland. When it opened in 1890, local newspapers described it as the most ambitious public work the town had attempted.

The Ranpen Footbridge was restored in the late twentieth century and remains a familiar landmark for residents and visitors.
